Tank update, pics soon!

I had a bout of ick in my Q-tank...thank goodness for API Super Ick Cure!  All better now.  I did, however,  lose Disease in the process.  Poor guy, he was riddled with ick.  The remaining 3 went into the big tank a couple weeks ago.  Dispite the white male molly's size (Big Face), Pustulio has remained ruler of the tank.  Seems to be a mutual respect (or fear) between the two.

The Q-tank then became home to baby platy for a short time.  She loved it but had to move back to the net...  Mysterious deaths (daily) in Tom's 30 gallon.  We got the surviving fish out and into the 10 gallon (4 otos, 2 pygmy cory cats and 4 ember tetras).  We lost one more oto and one tetra.  The rest of the bunch seem to be doing great!

Plans are in the works for my next tank: a planted 20 long with pygmy cory cats, small tetras (neon or ember)and maybe red crystal shrimp.  So excited!  I can't wait!  Stay tuned!

Tank Update

There's something fishy going on... every bit of pun intended.  Pustulio, my black molly, keeps getting a fluffy fungus on her body.  I move her to the 10 gallon quarantine, do a few salt baths and in days she's fine.  Move her back and in a week or two start over.  Hmmm.  There are no visible illnesses going on with any of the other fish.  Key word is visible.

Which brings me to my next case: I have lost all 3 of my panda platies.  No clue why.  Just found them floating one day.  In addition to small platy baby going missing and Thing 2 passing on.

So with the recent tradgedies, I bought 2 mollies and 3 hi-fin platies from Petsmart yesterday.  I know, I know.  I'm taking a big chance buying from there.  All 4 are in the quarantine tank and were actively exploring the tank.  The mollies (male silver and female black) have yet to be named.  The black one looks identical to Pustulio, size and everyting!  Tom named the platies.  One is yellow with black fins (just like Gloria was) is named Glorybee.  The other is orange and black like my other hi-fins but has black spots on the body.  Tom has dubbed this one "disease".  One day at a time, we'll see how these ones fare.

There is a 5th edition in the past couple weeks.  I found what I presume to be a platy baby in the 10 gallon tank with Pustulio.  I haven't had a platy in that tank in ages... and I can't imagine it's Pustulios.  Quite a mystery...
